  Benny’s Eatery— Elegant, but not intimidating
  At last, Grilled Salmon that’s Fit to Eat in Rockmart! However, as the sign & menu tell us, Benny’s is “more than just seafood.” Please don’t think “fit to eat” is in anyway a left-handed complement: my husband has the salmon each time we go, and each time it has been grilled to a perfection I thought never to find outside the Perimeter, much less in the culinary wilds of Polk County! He thought about ordering the Crab Cakes, one of their Signature Dishes; I overhead the waitstaff assuring the customers at a large table they are made out of “100% snow crab meat”—no “krab”-like substance here!
  Myself, I go nuts over Middle Eastern cuisine, and here Benny’s truly shines. The hummus and eggplant dips are authentic (I ate the eggplant dish (Babaganoush, but at Benny’s just called “eggplant”), at an actual Persian restaurant in Marietta recently, and their eggplants, it was obvious, were not smokily prepared on open flame, as is the dish at Benny’s.) The Gyro Platter is all-beef, and is accompanied with lovingly-grilled vegetables. Today I had the Kefta Kebab, a mixture of ground beef and lamb, beautifully grilled and presented. For the less-exotically inclined, there are salads and sandwiches (including Po-Boys), fried or grilled seafood and fish (including fried oysters prepared the way you want), cheeseburgers, grilled chicken, and some Italian favorites such as Shrimp Scampi and Spagetti Marinara. There’s also a Kids’ Menu. Then there are Soups (*must* try the Lentil next time we go!) and Desserts—omg, did I leave desserts until now? Desserts include New York Cheesecake, Baklava and—well, we haven’t managed yet to get past the Cheesecake!
  Very little is left to chance. A brief wait precedes your basket with a fresh, hot demibaguette and house-made butter (who makes their own butter?!). The salad, if you have one, is of crisp romaine, tomatoes, red onions, radish with your choice of dressing (but give the House Greek vinaigrette a shot--You won’t regret it!) Side orders range from the expected (think: Fried Green Tomatoes, hushpuppies, slaw) happily sharing the menu with Hummus and Eggplant dip. The Roasted Potatoes are perfection itself!
  I regret there’s only the two of us—when you go, take a large party with you and everybody order something different & share! Don’t miss this jaw-dropping addition to Rockmart dining.
